We are seeking a cost analyst to analyze financial data to influence strategic and operational decisions. This person will engage with team members at all levels of the organization and should possess strong communication skills and an ability use data tools.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

Analyzes financial data to provide accurate and timely information to influence strategic and operational decisions. Utilizes strong analytical, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills to execute projects that support management teams.  Assist in month-end closing procedures and reporting, assisting where needed on daily support tasks of finance and accounting teams. May periodically visit the Sharon, PA facility.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned. 

  • Evaluate, enhance and automate key analytic capabilities across departments to generate and impact decisions to maximize value add to the organization.
  • Perform cyclical support tasks to accurately state operational and financial results for further analysis
  • Forecast, analyze and own costs of products, labor and inventory 
    • Review and close work orders daily
    • Analyze job cost performance and prepare reports to management.
    • Monitor inventories, including owning cycle and physical inventory counts.
    • Audit and analyze inventory costs via daily variance reports and scrap rates to ensure validity of reporting.
  • Prepare various weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly reports and analytics for management such as gross profit analysis, labor performance, inventory analysis, and other reports as requested
  • Perform customer and/or product profitability evaluations as needed/requested. 
  • Complete and assist in the modification or development of data projects and analysis to ensure optimization of reporting.
  • Complete and assist in month-end closing via account analysis, journal entries, recording/uploading monthly results and other month end tasks as assigned
  • Complete and assist finance and accounting personnel in various tasks including but not limited to:
    • Review customer accounts weekly and follow up on any past due invoices.
    • Review monthly commission report provided by Controller for accuracy
    • Review & process receipts of product and invoices from sister company
    • Assist with preparing various tax and audit schedules 
    • Assist preparation of annual budget by providing requested data 
    • Assist preparation of forecasts by providing requested data
  • Participate in ad hoc projects to help identify cost savings, evaluate expansion/reduction opportunities and ensure efficient use of capital resources 
  • Participate in applicable company meetings and Continuous Improvement Program
  • Short-term or long-term projects could arise as a full-time focus
  • Travel may be required semi-annually to Sharon PA 

Schedule: This position is overtime-exempt and will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. 

This position is remote/hybrid-eligible. Must be resident in Kentuckiana region; not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. 

QualificationsQualifications

  • Two or more years’ related experience in finance or accounting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Extensive experience and/or training of ten or more years may be considered in lieu of degree. 
  • Strong computer/technical skills including: Proficient in Microsoft office products (especially Microsoft Excel), MRP/ERP, and accounting packages.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data tools, including Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels
  • Willingness to work onsite in Shelbyville, KY and has ability travel domestically including periodically to our Farrell, PA location. Must have valid drivers’ license and ability to travel long distances independently, familiarity with GPS devices.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR / EAR
  • Must live in commutable distance to Shelbyville, KY and willing to work onsite. Local or relocating candidates only.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Three or more years’ prior experience in financial analysis, product pricing analysis, cost accounting, cost analyst or cost specialist, finance or related accounting positions including:
  • Forecast and analyze costs of products, labor and inventory
  • Cost/Profit analysis; analyzing job cost performance
  • Financial month-end closing, statements, journal entries
  • Preparation of reports and analytics including monthly financial results, gross profit analysis, etc.
