Furnace Operator- Thermo-Tech (Full-time)

Your Tasks

  • Operate furnaces and equipment correctly and safely.
  • Check parts: as quenched (if required), b) as tempered, c) preliminary samples
  • Maximize utilization of the furnaces and follow priorities.
  • Minor maintenance; a) greasing, b) top up roughing and booster pump oil, c) keep furnace area clean and tidy, d) generally demonstrate good housekeeping
  • Report and take corrective action as need on equipment processes that may affect safety, quality and production.
  • Racking and unracking of heat treatment batches / loads.
  • Inspection of load for  a) method of racking, b) fixtures
  • Proper Ts/Tc placement for Die-Casting
  • Correct cutting of samples (Die-Casting)
  • Sand blasting of parts for Nitriding when required
  • Maintaining gases for nitriding and vacuum temper
  • Managing furnace log, Tc sheets and picture files
  • Proper  communication about ; a) processes, b) equipment, c) priorities, d) special or experimental parts
  • Training or guiding personnel when necessary.
  • Be prepared to do any other assignment if requested by Foreman/Supervisor or management (i.e., shipping helper, etc.)
  • Receive and enter orders
  • Strapping, loading and unloading trucks  as required
  • Calibration of hardness testing equipment when needed.
  • Monitor processes closely
  • Correct testing methods for certifying customer parts
  • Perform daily forklift and crane safety check.

  1. Academic/Technical - certificate in heat treatment, license in Forklift and Overhead Crane, minimum High School.
  2. Long-term experience in related job.
  3. Good communication skills
  4. Knowledge of furnace operation and inspection.
